ASHANTI HARRIS | ART & DANCE

Ashanti Harris is a visual artist, teacher, and researcher working with dance, performance and installation. In this film she speaks to us about exploring ideas through movement, engaging with culture through creativity, and trying to define dance of the African and Caribbean diaspora. The music in the film was created by Gillian Katungi (PAIX) in response to Ashanti’s work. ART & is a new series of films from the National Galleries of Scotland – using contemporary art to explore wider social, political, and cultural themes. Created in collaboration with artists, these films will examine the connections between contemporary art and the world it’s made in.
