The Thespian - Les Dennis

The thespian is a new work by the artist Paul Garrard. The picture is in homage to Les Dennis, actor and comedian. It’s a digital collage, with the stained glass coming from a photograph taken by the artist in Stratford-upon-Avon. Paul said, “A few years ago, inexplicably, Les Dennis graffiti appeared in a few places in Norwich. I don’t think the culprit was ever found or the reason for the decoration ascertained. It amused and bemused me at the time and whenever I’m reminded of it, it usually manages to raise a chuckle. I felt that something a bit more fitting and reverential was required for someone that perhaps doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves.”
